Beware of Contest Scams
63
It's a sham
I entered a photo of my kitties, in an online contest. I was quite proud of the picture. It really did not matter what the photo was about because, it was only a trap to lure me into all kinds of pitfalls. How foolish of me to fall for such a scam! I should have seen the signs along the way. First of all....it was FREE and right there, was my first sign. I had to jump through hoops of pup-ups and agreement check boxes before I could actually enter my photo. I should have turned away.
Goodness, it turns out that the contest is, of course a popularity contest. It isn't even about how great the photo was, but more about how many friends I have that are willing to have junk email sent their way. I was not aware that it was like that. It burns me up because now they are going to be upset with me.
I probably will not win because I will not subject my friends to all that. Yes, I did send to some, but I just could not keep sending those requests for votes.
Right now, I feel just a little used...that I fell into that trap.
Hopefully, my friends will learn to forgive me.

Zabella,
Thanks for the warning! There are so many things out there that are of a buyer beware mentality.
A friend worth having is a friend worth forgiving ... almost sounds like a fortune cookie, doesn't it. Sorry about the scam. Wouldn't it be such a wonderful world where we could trust everyone ... hummmmm... sounds like heaven ...
Zabbella...
Thank you for sharing what I am sure is a problem for a lot of folks trying to get their way in. (Your cats are cute btw...I would have voted for them...but...no...I would not want the span emails either).
Keep up the good work and keep looking...there has to be something legitimate, right?
nice hub
That is so disappointing. These scam artists need to be shut down. I wish there was a site for that.
Sounds like a sorry bunch Zabbella, what a waste of time! Thanks for the heads up!
