Prayer 101

Prayerful Reading...Pray before Reading the Bible
Prayer goes naturally with scriptural reading. We should pray a brief prayer before we begin reading the bible asking for assistance of the Holy Spirit, so that we can understand what we read as God' word to us.
St Paul sets the example...we should not hesitate to respond in prayer, even while we read as we come across thoughts that hit home to us.
(Ephesians 1:3-14 ) .......Are great examples of how St Paul broke into prayer while he was writing this.

When you pray:
1... .Realize that your prayers are powerful
2.....Come and get quiet in God's presence.
3.....As he puts things in your heart, pray about them in a simple,concise manner.
4.....Then believe that God heard them and that he is taking care of things

Confidence is the Spring in your prayer
1...........Don't run away from God...Run TO God
2...........Pray for one another
3...........We got here because, someone else prayed for us!!
4.......... God is basically saying....."I am either released or hindered by your power of prayer."
(James 5:13-16)
Pray with A.C.T.S
1 Adoration--........"Praise Be To God"...Tell God how much you appreciate him....express your love for him.
Praise his power and might ( majesty)
(Psalm 68:35)
2 Confession........If we confess our sins, He is faithful and will forgive us our
sins and purify us of all unrighteusness. Be specific
(I John 1:9)
3 Thanksgiving....Always glorify him with Thanksgiving. You have plenty reasons to be thankful Thank God for His love. For his faithfulness , his patience and a million other things.
(Psalm 69:30)
4 Suplication......Make your requests known to God. tell him what you want,no matter how small it seems to you.
Pray specifically and with confidence ( that he will honor your prayer)
(Phiippians 4:7)
```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Ideas for a more fullfilling Prayer life
1....Have a mini-worship time
Listen to worship music ( praise music) before you begin your prayer time
2...Begin with a Bible reading, or a devotionsl
3 Use a prayer journal
Have a list of people and things to pray for ( God bless Judy, Mary, Pete )
this helps keep you focused
4....Get out of a rut
Don't say the same thing over and over...change it up.
Our role in prayer is not to impress the Lord with our fine phrasing and fancy
vocabulary. It is really a cry out to him, to express our needs.
